ACCESSIBLE TOURS IN VIETNAM AND CAMBODIA

Smile Tours Service is a destination management company based in Vietnam and focused on tours in Vietnam – Cambodia – Laos since 2005.

Our customized inbound tours cover a wide range of tour types, including classic tours, MICE tours, adventure tours, eco-tours, etc. Especially, we venture into niche markets such as accessible tours.

1/ Organizing Accessible tours in Vietnam and Cambodia:

Regarding accessible tours in Vietnam and Cambodia, we are highly aware of the inaccessibility of hotels, means of transport, tourist attractions, and public facilities.

There are no autos or vans with typical lifts for wheelchairs. There are no accessible boats or piers. Most tourist attractions have rough walking paths and many steps but no accessible toilets. Most hotels do not have real accessible rooms.

 To solve this inaccessible problem, we use vans of 16 seats with low floor and wide door which give easy access to the seats. We use boats with large floor for wheelchairs. We use ramps where available or man power to lift wheelchair-travelers. We use spacious bed rooms with low beds and large doors, long-cord shower and plastic chair in the bathroom to take a shower.

2/ Our accessible tours:

- We have done accessible tours successfully in Vietnam and Cambodia. We sensibly choose most accessible and interesting tourist sites.

- There are must-do tours which are not accessible such as a Halong Bay boat tour, a Mekong river boat tour, the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Angkor temples. We adjust the programs and activities so that the people can overcome inaccessibility, have panoramic views and general vies of the sites, bring them as far as possible by boat or van, reduce their moving on rough paths as much as possible or provide the services right in front of them.

3/ Our conditions:

- When taking an accessible tour with us, disabled tourists need to bear in mind that Vietnam and Cambodia are not accessible friendly countries.

- We can take disabled people on manual wheelchairs only. Each disabled tourist is required to have a helper or he/she must be able to manage around by himself/herself.

- Travelling with Smile Tours Service requires a certain measure of flexibility and understanding that the itinerary, accommodation and modes of transport may be changed due to circumstances beyond our control. Smile Tours Service has the responsibility to make necessary changes without liability.

4/ Our goals:

- We aim to make tours that are not only accessible but also safe and enjoyable for disabled tourists

- In our tours, disabled tourists will participate in as many activities as able bodied tourists do.

- We would raise the awareness that despite the lack of accessible facilities in Vietnam and Cambodia, disabled tourists have the right to travel well and safe.
